Leadership
David is a serial entrepreneur, marketer, financier and web specialist with experience in the information technology, communications and life sciences sectors. He is President and CEO of BasicGov and the Chief Investment Officer at Pender Financial Group, a private merchant bank. David is also the Chairman of ActiveState Software, a dynamic languages company, and Zeep Mobile, an SMS advertising venture. He serves as a director of IP Applications Corp., a supplier of payment processing services to SaaS companies, and Pender Growth Fund, a Vancouver venture capital fund. Previously, David was the Chairman of Municipal Solutions Group, a supplier of enterprise software solutions to local government.
Michael has an extensive background in marketing and sales leadership in growth-stage companies and until joining BasicGov, he served nearly five years as VP Sales and Business Development for CityXpress Corporation, a Software as a Service (SaaS) company with customers in 11 different countries. Prior to that Michael co-founded Aquatic Informatics, to deliver environmental software to federal and local governments worldwide. In addition to CityXpress Corporation and Aquatic Informatics Vice President positions, Michael held senior leadership positions with Vector 12 Corporation and Circon Systems Corporation working alongside companies that included General Electric, National Semiconductor and Hewlett Packard. Michael holds a Bachelor of Business Administration with Marketing and International Business concentrations from Simon Fraser University.
Michele has extensive experience as a strategy and technology consultant and has built several start-up consulting and product development companies. She is COO of BasicGov and the Principal of Illume Consulting, a provider of project management and implementation services for SaaS applications.
Previously, Michele was the Director of Talent Acquisition Technologies at Electronic Arts, an entertainment software company, and Senior Director at Q Network, Inc., a strategic consulting firm.
Ian is a Chartered Accountant and experienced finance executive. He is currently an independent consultant in corporate finance and accounting and is an independent director of Pender Growth Fund and Radiant Communications, a leading supplier of broadband solutions for business throughout North America.
Ian has been Chief Financial Officer of a number of Vancouver-based companies including Norsat International Inc., Starcom International Inc. and Strand Capital Corporation.
Team
Coreen Jorgenson is accounting support and has worked in accounting for the past seven years. Previously she was with Syncra Construction Corp. and before that law firm Lawson Lundell LLP. She has an accounting diploma and is currently working towards her CGA designation. Coreen is multi-talented and has also worked as a web development/design freelancer and earned a certificate in New Media from the Vancouver Film School.
James is a software architect with extensive knowledge of the IT needs of local governments. He is the Technology Lead with responsibility for implementation and development of BasicGov. Previously James was an Implementation Specialist at Municipal Software Corporation, the predecessor to BasicGov, where he designed and developed BasicGov. Before this he was a Programmer Analyst with Sierra Systems, an IT consulting company.
Lucian Savluc is BasicGov's web marketing expert. Lucian has over 10 year of experience in the IT industry where he worked in various positions such as development, engineering, user experience and web marketing in companies across Europe and North America. Some of the companies he's worked with include Navarik Corp., NGRAIN, Sxip, HealthMetrx, and Waters, to name a few. Lucian has a wide range of experience with SaaS systems, open source software and social networking. He has a Bachelor degree in electronics from Henri Coanda Academy in Romania and continues to study and research about the latest web trends and marketing tools.
Mostafa holds a BASc from the University of British Columbia (UBC) in Software Engineering and brings several years of experience to BasicGov where he supports the team with data conversion, data loading, and software development. In the past 4 years he has worked for several major employers such as MacDonald Dettwiler & Associates (MDA), Modular Mining Systems Canada, and UBC and during these years he has managed to gain valuable experience in software development and further develop his business skills. Aside from software engineering projects, Mostafa's interests include business management, psychology, mathematics, and law.
Nicki Decloux is BasicGov's implementation specialist. Nicki has 15 years of experience implementing a wide variety of technology solutions including student administration systems, MRP systems and CAD systems. She most recently spent four years helping small companies integrate their SaaS applications with market leading accounting systems. Nicki has formal teaching experience having taught several technology courses at Vancouver Community College. Nicki's career experience combined with a degree from UBC's Sauder School of Business and certificates in the field of adult education make her an expert at "applied problem solving".
Roula Fredrikson is a sales executive for BasicGov guiding customers through demonstrations, analysis of their specific situations and right through to sales contracts. Roula has worked in sales for seven years focusing in the SaaS industry. Some of the companies she's worked at are ADP, Active Network and Telus.
Ryan Yao's role is support, training and implementation at BasicGov. Ryan has extensive background in systems networking and programming. He's worked internationally including the manager of an IT department for a company in the Philippines. In addition to Ryan's main roles he is the company's Salesforce CRM expert.
Susan Kirk is BasicGov's Marketing Communications expert. Susan has 15 years of strategic and hands-on experience with a variety industries and companies: technology, retail, real estate development, government and not-for-profit. Prior to working with BasicGov, Susan worked with Best Buy/ Future Shop and previously as a consultant she worked with clients such as Business Objects (now SAP), a leader in the software industry. Earlier in her career, Susan managed global PR for technology company, PMC-Sierra. She has a Bachelor degree in economics as well as a Marketing Communications certificate and continues to learn new marketing communications best practices.
