Dreamforce Reflections: the Force of Force.com

DreamForce was last week and I have had a bit of time to reflect on what happened there. It was a big show, depending on who you talk to there was between 17,000 to 20,000 people. While not the largest show I have seen, it was the first show that I have been to that had such a singular focus and that was to learn how the SalesForce.com and Force.com can improve your business.

The most important thing I learned was just how this platform can scale and how we pass this capability straight to our local government customers. This platform currently supports nearly 60,000 customers, some of which have over 1000 licenses with the ability to easily scale far beyond that. This kind of platform scalability is by far the best option available on the software market. The other interesting thing about working with the Force.com platform is that we benefit from the product development work SalesForce does to meet the needs of their 60,000 clients and we get to choose what we actually wish to implement. The team here at BasicGov is excited to get working on the new features provided by the platform for 2010 products.
