About: Susan
I started working with BasicGov Systems this year to help with marketing and communications. We have a great team of entrepreneurs, web and SaaS experts. Although we have a history working with municipalities for over 25 years, our newer web-based product, BasicGov, isn't that well known yet so we have lots to do to build awareness and find new local government customers. Our philosophy is to build relationships with our customers and communities which is why we've added a blog and are starting a monthly e-newsletter. I've been working in marketing communications for over 15 years beginning with an IT consulting company where I discovered my passion for marcom after graduating with a Bachelor of economics degree. From there I worked with an entrepreneurial CEO and loved travelling to New York and LA for investor relations and brand development. For seven years I worked with a technology company managing global PR as well as doing other aspects of marketing communications like events, internal communications and community relations. A memorable project was a product announcement in China that involved government and media relations as well as travelling to Beijing and Hong Kong. More recently, I worked as a consultant with various clients, one being Business Objects (now SAP) a leader in the software industry. Over the last few years I worked with Best Buy/ Future Shop on communications strategies and project implementation. In my non-work life I spend time with my husband and 10 year old son in White Rock, a lovely suburb south of Vancouver. We spend lots of time at kid's soccer and hockey games as well as try to keep active with swimming, tennis, skiing and cycling. I love reading books about marketing and communications so if you have any to share, please pass on. Full Name: Susan Kirk | email: susan.kirk@basicgov.com
